On July 31, applicants will be able
to apply for a grant using an electronic intake system. The
use of this system is required for applicants requesting
more than $1 million in assistance.
Deadline for application
submissions is 5 PM ET on August 14, 2009.
Hardcopy versions of the
applications are made available so applicants can prepare
their answers now and be ready to use the electronic system
once it is made available.
Applicants whose authorized
representatives are individuals with disabilities may submit
a paper application. Applicants who are requesting less than
$1 million may forego the electronic filing requirement if
using this system would impose a hardship on the applicant.
Applicants who are not able to use the electronic intake
system may use a fillable PDF version of the application,
which will be made available through this portal. Applicants
who use the fillable PDF may print it out and mail it to the
appropriate agency, along with an electronic copy, using a
CD or other appropriate medium. An electronic copy will
greatly assist the agencies in processing paper
applications.
Electronic application submissions
are strongly encouraged and will greatly enhance the speed
of the agencies' processing and review of applications.
The official BIP/BTOP Broadband
Infrastructure Application, BTOP Public Computer Center
Application, and BTOP Sustainable Broadband Adoption

official applications in preparing to submit all funding
requests to the RUS and/or NTIA broadband programs and
should disregard any other applications that have been
disseminated or otherwise made available to the public.
